Thank you for submitting your accident claim form. A copy is attached to this email. Please read this email for important information.
Yellow Jersey will handle your claim in-house with our own dedicated claims team. We aim to make the entire process as easy as possible. In order for us to review your claim and proceed, we will need a few extra items from you. The sooner you can provide the following documentation to us, the sooner we can get you back you on your bike.
- A copy of your photo ID (Passport/ drivers licence)
- Proof of address (utility bill)
- Proof of ownership for the bike (receipts/ photographs)
- And evidence of your trip if the damage happened abroad (boarding passes etc.)
Whilst we handle the claim and payments, we also work closely with Serious Law and Carbon Bike Repair (CBR).
Serious Law are the panel law firm under your legal expense insurance policy. We have passed your claim form to them as you have been injured in an accident that wasn’t your fault. They will be in touch with you shortly. Should they choose to represent you and are successful, their legal fees are fully recouped from the third party. If they represent you and are unsuccessful, the incurred legal fees are insured up to £100,000 through ARAG plc. Should you have any questions, Serious Law will be able to assist during their preliminary phone call.
CBR are a bike specialist. Their team of mechanics and technicians have the knowledge required to assess bike damage, and make decisions about the best solution for your claim. Their bike restoration wing also has the specialist ultrasound equipment we need to get an unambiguous assessment of carbon damage, something a local bike shop cannot provide.
We have the final say on any decisions Carbon Bike Repair make, and are ready to step in if there are any problems. Fortunately, we don't need to do this very often.
Carbon Bike Repair will contact you within 1 working day to talk to you about the damage to your bike, the circumstances you detailed in your claim form, and to request photographs of the damage. They will use these photos to produce an initial assessment, decide whether your bike needs to be collected for a full inspection, and give you an estimate for the timeframe of your claim.
To provide a better service, we work on the assumption that you will be able to provide these docs in due course. We therefore ask CBR to contact you straight away. This does mean that bikes are collected on the proviso that any repair work hasn't been agreed yet. Your bike could be returned unrepaired. We are happy to say this has never happened.
We know it is slightly unusual for engineers to contact you and arrange collection of your bike before your claim has been agreed. However, if we were to wait for all your information to fully process your claim through to completion before CBR were allowed to contact you, it would unnecessarily delay your claim.
You can read a more in depth guide to our Accidental Damage claims process over on the Yellow Jersey website.
If you do run into any issues with CBR, or any other aspect of the claim, the sooner you let us know the better. You can speak to Yellow Jersey directly on 0333 003 0046, Monday to Friday 9 to 5:30.
